Terry Keller bought his first shop at 23. He was one of the youngest ASE Master Technicians in the country, and he built Keller Brothers Auto Repair into one of the leading shops in metro Denver — eventually rated the #1 auto repair facility in the nation.

But volume wasn't profit. At one point, Keller Bros. was pushing 65-70 cars a day through 9 bays — and barely making money. A $250 average repair order, cut-rate marketing that attracted bargain hunters, and 102 W-2s in a year for 12 positions. Activity without results.

In 1997, David Rogers walked in as a service writer and saw the problem immediately. He'd come from five-star hospitality — hotels and restaurants where you didn't compete on price, you competed on experience. He told Terry they had to stop being the cheapest shop in town and start being the one customers trusted.

Together, they rebuilt. Diagnostic charges. Value-based marketing. Incentive pay plans that aligned the team with the mission. The car count dropped. The revenue went up. The customers got better. The employees stayed longer.

That transformation became the blueprint.

In 1999, Terry and David founded Auto Profit Masters to teach other shop owners what they'd learned the hard way — not theory from consultants who'd never written a repair order, but real operational coaching from people who'd lived it.

In 2001, they built Automated Marketing Group to solve the other half: getting the right customers through the door. Not coupon-clippers. Quality customers who value quality work.

By 2017, after 18 years of coaching shops and watching them fight with software that wasn't built for how they actually worked, the answer was obvious. They built Shop4D — from the ground up, informed by every lesson from every shop they'd ever coached.

Today, Shop4D is the only shop management platform backed by real coaching and real marketing, all under one roof. That's not a tagline. It's our actual structure.

He co-founded Auto Profit Masters in 1999 and has spent 25+ years coaching automotive operations toward sustainable success. He built Shop4D because he was tired of watching great shops fight with bad software.
